FRANKFURT, August 6, 2013 - DOSB President Thomas Bach has issued a statement regarding a doping study in Germany that was initiated by the country's top sports body and published Monday by the German Federal Institute for Sport Science.
“This a good day for the fight against doping. We welcome the publication of the study which I have initiated with DOSB.
We have appointed an independent commission with a former judge of the constitutional court, Udo Steiner, as chairperson. This commission will now evaluate the report and give recommendations with regard to the tasks as well as about the future improvements of the fight against doping.
In its work this independent commission will benefit from reports in some other countries like France or Australia and from a broad public and scientific discussion. I am confident that we can reach our goals to have full knowledge about the past and to learn the lessons for the future.
This will strengthen our zero tolerance policy against doping.”
