Australian ace javelin thrower banned for missing doping tests

CANBERRA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Commonwealth Games javelin champion Jarrod Bannister was banned for 20 months for missing drug tests, he said on his Facebook page on Friday.

Bannister, 28, missed three tests within 18 months, which is treated the same as a positive test.

His ban will run to Feb. 18, 2015.

Bannister won the gold medal at New Delhi in 2010 and was sixth in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
