WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- The Major League Baseball Friday announced that Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Troy Patton was banned for 25 games for a second positive amphetamine test.

Under the drug agreement between MLB and its players' union, a first positive test only results in follow-up testing.

Patton, 28, became the 15th player suspended this year under the big league drug program following 14 penalized as a result on MLB's Biogenesis investigation.

Patton was 2-0 with a 3.70 ERA this year in 56 relief appearances.
