WADA supports increased testing amongst youth and University-level athletes

August 22, 2014 - WADA was pleased to learn of the testing done by the Canadian Center for Ethics in Sport (CCES) on Canadian Interuniversity Sport athletes (CIS). The testing was part of a compliant Canadian Anti-Doping program.

WADA has long held the view that doping is an issue not just contained to elite level sport, but also lower age groups and those progressing through the ranks to elite- and Olympic-level sport.

WADA is well aware of a continuing problem of steroid abuse amongst young and aspiring athletes. Issues such as steroid abuse need to be tackled early on.

We continue to support more testing in this regard.
