WADA takes Athlete Outreach to South Korea for XVII Asiad

September 23, 2014 - WADA arrived in Incheon, South Korea last week for the latest leg of its 2014 Athlete Outreach program.

The Asian Games, which runs from 19 September – 4 October, marks the fifth major multi-sport event at which WADA has carried out its Outreach program this year.

The Outreach Center will be open to all competitors and members of their entourages in the Athlete Village, and will be managed by a number of anti-doping educators, including members of WADA’s Athlete Committee. The aim of the Outreach program throughout the Games is to promote the clean sport message in a fun and engaging way.

Athletes, coaches and support personnel will have the opportunity to interact with the Outreach team on an individual basis and learn useful information on anti-doping matters. The WADA Play True Quiz, which has previously been showcased at major sporting events across the world, will once again be a core part of the program.

“WADA has been busy rolling out the Outreach program at a number of high-profile major multi-sport events this year, and I am pleased that it has been well received by the thousands of athletes that have taken part,” said WADA President Sir Craig Reedie.

“Engaging with athletes, and ensuring they have all the anti-doping information they need is a crucial part of what WADA does. The Asian Games is one of the leading multi-sport events in the world, and I look forward to many more athletes interacting with the Outreach team in the days to come,” he added.
