INCHEON, South Korea, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced Tuesday that Malaysian wushu gold medalist Tai Cheau Xuen failed the doping test at the Inchoen Asian Games.
This was the third anti-doping rule violation in the ongoing 17th Asian Games which will run through Oct. 4.
Tai's urine specimen collected on 20 September 2014 (under post-competition testing) was found to contain sibutramine, a prohibited substance in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List 2014. This substance is a specified stimulant under category S6b of the list, said OCA.
OCA said that the Malaysian athlete has been disqualified from the competition as well as the Games and her accreditation cancelled and her medal withdrawn.
On Sept. 20, Tai scored 9.61 points to take the women's nanquan title at the Games.
Besides, the findings will be forwarded to her national authorities, the international federation of the sport concerned, namely the Asian & International Wushu Federations, and the WADA for further action on their part as per sanctions concerning eligibility, said OCA.
Earlier, Tajik footballer Khurshed Beknazarov became the first doping case after he was tested positive for a banned stimulant from his urine sample collected on Sept. 14, and Cambodian soft tennis player Yi Sophany was found to contain sibutramine in her urine specimen collected on Sept. 16, a prohibited substance in the WADA Prohibited List 2014.
Both athletes were disqualified from the Games.
