BERLIN, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- The harshest anti-doping action in Germany's history is poised to be introduced as a new anti-doping law draft agreed upon by the nation' s government.

According to the new draft, top athletes caught in possession of substances like steroids or the blood booster EPO will face heavy charges, including prison terms.

Appearance restriction and re-claiming price money from drug cheats are also took into consideration in the new draft, which is believed to strengthen the position of the German Anti Doping-Agency (NADA).

The new anti-doping is believed to be adopted in the first half of 2015 as the draft will be presented in the parliament before the end of the year.

"It is a clear statement towards potential dopers that things will get tougher for them in the future." said Dagmar Freitag, the chair of the parliamentary sports commission.

Germany so far has no anti-doping law. Athletes in Germany with substance abuse are only covered within the nation's general medicinal products law unlike covered by separate laws in countries like France or Italy.
