October 2, 2014 - WADA is pleased to publish the Technical Document for Sport Specific Analysis (TDSSA), Version 2.1, following its approval at the WADA Executive Committee meeting on 20 September 2014. The TDSSA is mandated by the 2015 World Anti-Doping Code and will come into effect 1 January 2015.

The TDSSA requires that a minimum level of analysis is conducted for the following prohibited substances; Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents (ESAs), Growth Hormone (GH) and GH Releasing Factors (GHRFs) which are not currently part of the standard routine urine analysis menu that laboratories apply for in-competition and out-of-competition testing.

The TDSSA is one important part in the development and implementation of an effective test distribution plan by all Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) and will play a part in protecting the clean athletes by ensuring the prohibited substances within the scope of the TDSSA are subject to an appropriate and more consistent level of analysis by all ADOs that conduct testing on those sports and disciplines on a global basis.

The TDSSA includes two appendices that outline the minimum level of analysis for sports and disciplines. In addition and to further assist ADOs with the implementation of the TDSSA, WADA has developed three supporting documents (non-mandatory).
