Malaysian badminton player advises teammates to be away from drugs

BEIJING, Nov. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Malaysian badminton player Lee Chong Wei advised his teammates to learn from his lesson to be away from using drugs during healing.

The player made the remarks during his recent interview with the Star, a English-language newspaper in Malaysia, after he was suspended in a doping scandal and waiting for the Badminton World Federation (BWF) to consider whether he has committed an offense.

Lee Chong Wei said that if he could travel back in time, he would have conducted a comprehensive check to ensure that no prohibited drug residue in the body, before he participated in the BWF World Championships in August in Copenhagen.

"Unfortunately, it's too late," Lee Chong Wei said, "I totally believe in doctors, let experts to treat my injury. I know how to play badminton, how many feathers on a shuttlecock and how many pounds of strings needed for a racket, but I know nothing about medicine."

The BMF will hold the hearing into Lee’s case next month, who could be banned for up to two years for doping.
