December 9, 2014 - WADA has completed and published its Independent Observer (IO) Report on the anti-doping program at the 2014 Asian Games.

In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code, WADA was invited by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to send an IO Team to the Asian Games, and deliver a final report on the effectiveness of the program and any recommendations for its improvement.

“The cooperation and support offered by the OCA and IAGOC for the anti-doping program at Incheon 2014 was excellent and the overall anti-doping objectives were met,” said WADA Director General, David Howman.

The IO Team monitored all aspects of the anti-doping program in Incheon, including test distribution planning, the selection of athletes for testing, notification of doping control, Therapeutic Use Exemption procedure, transport and chain of custody of samples, and results management processes.
