After a close match between China and host Australia in the final showdown of  the 2003 BDO Champions Trophy held at the Sydney Olympic Park on December 7, trophy holder China, which kept an unbeaten record of 3 wins and 2 ties, tried its utmost but failed to turn the tide, conceding the title to the host with 2-3, much to the satisfaction of a huge supporting home crowd of 5,000.
