On August 3, 2004, authorized by Hu Jintao, Chinese President and General-Secretary of  the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Li Changchun, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, received the Chinese Sports Delegation to the 2004 Olympic Games at central Beijing's Great Hall of the People, and wished all the athletes good luck in Athens.
