At 9:00am Athens local time on 9 August, 2004,  a national flag-raising ceremony for the Chinese Sports Delegation was held at the Athens Olympic Village. Present at the ceremony were over 130 members of the delegation. H.E. Juan Antonio Samaranch, former IOC President, also attended the ceremony.
