On 9 March 2005, a ceremony for celebrating China's first victory by Chang Hao in Ing Cup World Weiqi Championship was held in Beijing. Attending the celebration were Liu Peng, Director of the General Administration of Sport, and Wang Runan and Chen Zude, leaders of the Chinese Weiqi Association.

In the final game of the Fifth Ing Cup World Weiqi Championship held on March 5, Chang Hao, a well-known 9-dan player in China, beat Korea's Ch'oe Ch'eol-han 9-dan 3-1 to achieve his long-cherished goal of winning a world title.
