BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) conferred a top honor on Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Beijing Thursday for his outstanding contribution to the 2008 Olympics.

Liu Peng, COC president and head of the General Administration of Sport of China, said "President Nazarbayev had expressed his passion for the Olympic Games and support for the 2008 Beijing Olympics during the Olympic flame global journey."

The COC medal is the highest honor for foreigners who make outstanding contributions to the Chinese sport and the development of the Olympics.
