2009-12-10 09:55 WADA

Dec 8, 2009 - Following the success of the first Symposium for chairs of Therapeutic Use Exemption Committees (TUECs) held in 2006 in Bonn, Germany, WADA and the Monitoring Group of the Anti-Doping Convention of the Council of Europe are organizing a second TUEC Chair Symposium on December 11, 2009, in Strasbourg, France.

This Symposium is aimed to allow appropriate exchange of knowledge between experts, establish consistency in the TUE decision-making process and address a range of issues related to TUEs. These include the revised International Standard for TUE that took effect on January 1, 2009; the introduction of fresh medical information; case studies from selected physicians involved in National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and International Federations (IFs); as well as legal and ethical aspects of TUEs.

More than 145 experts will participate in the Symposium. Sixty NADOs and 43 IFs will be represented.
