Wang Meng wins short-track 500m with three Olympic records

(Beijing, February 18) In the Olympic women's short-track speed skating 500m final held in Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum on February 17, China's Wang Meng skated off with one more Olympic gold in career with a time of 43.048, 0.59sec faster than that of the runner-up Marianne St-Gelais of Canada. With this victory Wang Meng has become China's first Olympic champion who has succesfully defended her Olympic title in two Winter Games.

Prior to the women's short-track speed skating 500m final, Wang had thrice created Olympic records (43.926, 43.284 and 42.985) in the heats, quarterfinals and semifinals. (Photos China Sports Online/Ni Minzhe)
