(Beijing, 20 June 2011) At 09:00 on 18 June 2011, the 25th edition of the Olympic Day Run in China was started concurrently in nine Chinese cities, namely Beijing, Shenzhen, Haiyang, Tianjin, Chengde, Xiamen, Dalian, Shenyang and Huainan.
Among the more than 2,000 runners in Beijing were Liu Peng, Minister in charge of the General Administration of Sport and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Feng Jianzhong, deputy sports minister and COC vice president, and Yang Yang, China's first winter Olympic champion in short-track speed skating.
