(Beijing, 15 August 2011) -- On 12 August, the 26th Summer Universiade was officially opened by the Chinese president Hu Jintao in a colourful event at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center known as the Spring Cocoon in Shenzhen, the youngest city and the emerging metropolis in China, with more than 7,500 athletes from 147 countries competing in 306 games in 24 sports.
