13 July 2012, Beijing - The launching ceremony of the Samaranch Foundation was held in central Beijing's Great Hall of the People on 13 July 2012.

Attending the ceremony were Liu Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Beijing Olympic City Development Association, Liu Peng, Minister in charge of the General Administration of Sport of China, Liu Jinlong, Mayor of Beijing, Eugenio Bregolat, Spanish Ambassador to China, Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., son of Juan Antonio Samaranch, Yu Zaiqing, Vice Sports Minister of China, and former Chinese star athletes Deng Yaping, Li Lingwei and Yang Yang.
