9 October 2014 - At the 45th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held on 7 October 2014 in south China's Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, hosts China successfully edged Japan by a narrow margin of 0.1 point, or 273.369pts to clinch the men's team title for six times in a row. Japan and the United States placed second and third with 273.269pts and 270.369pts respectively.

In the women's team final contested on 8 October, the Chinese team had to be content with a silver medal with 172.587pts following defending champions U.S. with 179.280pts. Russia got the bronze with 171.462pts.
