06 Jun 2011, Kuwait: Myanmar Olympic Committee will warm up for hosting the 2013 South East Asian Games in Nay Pyi Taw by holding Olympic Day 2011 in the new national capital later this month.
Olympic Day is celebrated around the world on June 23, and NOC Myanmar is organising educational talks on Olympism, sports demonstrations and traditional sports activities on this special Olympic Thursday.
Nay Pyi Taw, which means Royal City, is the new administrative capital of Myanmar, located approximately 320 km north of Yangon.
The 27th SEA Games is scheduled to be held there in 2013, following the 2011 edition in Indonesia in November. It will be the third time that Myanmar will host the SEA Games, after 1961 and 1969 in Yangon. (Source: www.olympic.org)
