19 Jun 2011, Changhua: According to IOC President Jacques Rogge, Olympic Day is really for everyone, whoever you are, wherever you come from, or whatever you do. Olympic Day is also about much more than just playing sport, running or exercising. Olympic Day is a special day to reflect on the meaning and its values.
For 24 consecutive years since its inception in 1988, the Chinese Taipei NOC has held an Olympic Day Run. This year, the Chinese Taipei NOC celebrated Olympic Day with a special theme: 100% Vitality and Health. Both professional and amateur runners from all over Taiwan numbering more than 2,500 joined the race.
The run was sounded off at 6am on Sunday, June 19, in Changhua County by CTOC President Thomas Tsai. The race included seven age groups for men and six age groups for women in a 20-km race and one fun run group without age restriction in a 5-km race.
The top three in both male and female divisions were awarded 2012 London Olympic Games Commemorative Coins for their excellent performance. (Article submitted by CTOC)
