11,000 enter Malaysia's Olympic Day Fun Run

17 Jul 2011, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The 2011 Olympic Day Fun Run was successfully organised on Sunday, July 17 at Dataran Merdeka from 7am. A record number of around 11,000 runners took part. The Guest of Honour was the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia, YB Dato’ Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who flagged off all the 14 categories of the 2011 Olympic Day Fun Run.

Other VIPs present were Ms. Sarah Cassanova, Managing Director of McDonald’s Malaysia; Y. Bhg. Dato’ Zolkples Embong, Director General of Majlis Sukan Negara; OCM Vice Presidents Y. Bhg. Dato’ Roy Rajasingham and Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Mohd Noor Abdul Rahim; and the Hon. Assistant Secretaries of OCM, Moira Tam and T. Kumar.

Family and Group categories were held for the first time, as well as the men’s and women’s open over 7km.
