Olympic Day 2011: a royal occasion in Thailand

24 Jul 2011, Bangkok, Thailand: Despite the rainy season it was a fine morning on Sunday, July 24, and there was not a drop of rain throughout the day. At 4.50am a large number of runners and walkers came out to register. By the 6.0am start time it was estimated that more than 50,000 people had registered to join Olympic Day 2011: the Celebrations on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary 5th December 2011.

The crowds were cheerful and happy as they had an opportunity to pay respect and loyalty to His Majesty the King, who will be at the age of 84 on 5th December 2011.

Present at the site were H. E. Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop, Chairman of the Organising Committee; Gen. Yuthasak Sasiprapha, President of NOCT; Maj. Gen. Charouck Arirachakaran, Vice President & Secretary General of NOCT; members of NOCT Executive Board; and several other dignitaries from the public and private sectors.
