25 Jun 2012, Taipei: For 25 consecutive years, the Chinese Taipei NOC has held the Olympic Day Run since its inception in 1988. This year, the Chinese Taipei NOC celebrates the Olympic Day with a special theme echoing the NOC's 90th Anniversary and the upcoming London Olympic Games. Both professional and amateur runners from all over Taiwan numbering more than 5,500 joined the race, ranging from 2 to 75 years old in age.
The run was sounded off at 5:30 am on Sunday, 24th June, in New Taipei City by CTOC President Thomas Tsai. The race included 7 age groups for men, 6 age groups for women in 21km race and 1 fun run group without age discretion in 2.5km race.
Presenting guests including the Deputy Mayor of New Taipei City Mr. Yo-Yi HOU, 2004 Taekwondo Silver Medalist Mr. Chih-Hsiung HUANG, 1988 Taekwondo Olympian Ms. Yi-An CHEN, Chef de Mission of 2012 London Olympic Games Chinese Taipei Delegation, Mr. Hong-Dow LIN, and Marathon athlete for the upcoming 2012 London Olympic Games, Mr. Chia-Che CHANG.
