28 May 2013, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: The Olympic Council of Malaysia will hold the 2013 Olympic Day Run on Sunday, June 23, at Dataran Merdeka from 7.00 am. All affiliates of OCM are encouraged to support the event by registering and participating in the fun run. Olympic Day falls on June 23 every year and is celebrated around the world to promote the spirit and values of Olympism and a healthy lifestyle for all age groups.
In other news, the Olympic Council of Malaysia congratulates two national sports associations for winning the right to host major international sports events. The Malaysian Rugby Union will host the HSBC Asian Five Nations (Division Two and Division Three) rugby championship at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya from June 4-8.
Malaysia will be playing in Division Two alongside Singapore, Iran and newly-promoted India. China, Guam, Indonesia and Qatar are the teams playing in Division Three. The Table Tennis Association of Malaysia will host the 2016 World Team Championships in Kuala Lumpur. The Annual General Meeting of the International Table Tennis Federation, held in Paris, France on May 15, approved the proposal for Kuala Lumpur to host the 2016 edition due to its high-quality bid.
- The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) 13th Cycle Men’s Artistic Gymnastics International Judges Course 2013 is being held at the Olympic Sports Hotel, Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur, from May 25-31.
- The Mr Kuala Lumpur 2013 Championship was organised by the Kuala Lumpur Bodybuilding Association at the Tan Sri Hamzah Arena, Wisma OCM, on Sunday, May 26. A sell-out crowd of over 1,000 bodybuilding supporters and fans attended the championship. (Source: www.olympic.org.my)
