Dear friends!

It is fantastic to be celebrating the final International Olympic Day before we host the 2014 Winter and Paralympic Games in Sochi next year. The initiative was first launched in 1987 and ever since then we have had the opportunity to celebrate and promote Olympic values and ideals.

This year is very special as we approach Russia’s first time hosting the Winter Olympics and as preparation continues in Sochi. We have now conducted a full programme of test events which have clearly shown we are ready for the Games. Thousands of volunteers from across Russia are currently undertaking training to help prepare them to welcome the world to Russia and deliver a great Games time experience.

This International Olympic Day we ask everyone to embrace and share the Olympic values and ideals. Today is great opportunity to go and take part in some sport and physical activity and continue the countdown to what we believe will be the most exciting Winter Olympics ever.
