Model aircraft popular in All-China Games

HEFEI, East China, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Olympic champions and other famous athletes nowadays are playing another role of promoting the Fitness for All program nationwide.

In Heifei where the 4th All-China Games are reeling off, a total of 13 Olympic champions and many other famous sports figures mingled with the citizens, sharing their ideas of keeping health with their own experiences.

Among the champions are swimmer Luo Xuejuan, weightlifter Zhang Guozheng, takenwondo athlete Cheng Zhong, snooker woman player Pan Xiaoting and chess grandmaster Ye Jiangchuan.

The athletes showed up at the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Heifei, acting as advisors for ordinary people in their body health exercises.

In September 2009, the State Sports General Administration called on every Chinese Olympic champion and other famous athletes to actively carry on the national fitness-for-all program, sharing their advices with ordinary people no less than seven days every year.

During the past year, those world and Olympic champions have been playing their role of fitness-for-all volunteers to nearly 300 communities in 22 cities.

"The Olympic champions are from the society, and now they step forward to share their knowledge with the ordinary people for physical exercises in the scientific ways, what they are doing are for the overall improvement of the physique of the people," said Weng Jiaren, director of the human resources development center of the Sports General Administration.

The Administration said those athletes will go further to villages, communities, schools, the military units, companies, factories and mines for their advices.
