03 Dec 2012, Manama, Bahrain: The first International Sport For All Festival is set to begin today at the Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town, with 21 nations from around the world in the fray. Teams from the Arab region and overseas will compete in a variety of sporting events during the three-day festival, organised by the Bahrain Sports For All Federation (BSFA). There are 13 regional countries present: Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Yemen, Palestine, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia and host country Bahrain.
Other delegations have come from Turkey, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Romania, Greece, Cameroon and Burundi. The main competitions are futsal, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and walking beside other entertaining contests. Bahrain’s main objective behind this pioneering festival is to boost the sports culture among all the generations and to bring the nations together in peace.
The event is patronized by the vice chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The organsinig committee is headed by Bahrain Sport for All Federation president Isa Abdulrahim.
