LAUSANNE, March 21, 2013 - The IOC World Conference on Sport for All will take place in Lima, Peru, from 24 to 27 April 2013. The event will bring together organisations from around the world that are active in the field to share their ideas and practical examples of programmes designed to get people of all ages moving. The event will also provide unique networking opportunities for all those attending.

The themes of the Conference are social benefits, sports facilities and public spaces, and partnerships. The Conference will feature an exciting line-up of speakers and moderators, who will lead lively, motivating and interactive discussions throughout the three days.

The success of Sport for All programmes relies on certain skills, and this year’s Conference will enable participants to learn or develop these skills. These practical sessions will focus on programme delivery, monitoring and evaluation, increasing resources and volunteerism. Each participant will have an opportunity to attend these sessions, which will be led by experts in these four fields.

A workshop for the newly launched IOC-supported TAFISA “Triple AC” Programme” will be held in Lima before the start of the IOC Conference on 23 and 24 April 2013. The workshop will be open to everyone, and will explore Sport for All programmes around the world in an urban setting.

The deadline for registration has been extended to Friday 22 March. Don’t miss the opportunity to take part in this event, from which you will certainly bring back new ideas to encourage people to become more active in your country.

Geert Hendriks from the AISTS has been contributing significantly to the organisation of the 15th IOC World Conference on Sport for All, mainly through his responsibility in liaising between the IOC and approximately 45 speakers for the conference.

In addition, the AISTS Sports Development Manager has been coordinating the poster presentations that take place during the conference. The poster presentations are an opportunity for participants to showcase their work in the context of Sport for All. Submitted abstracts were reviewed by the Programme Committee, which includes representatives from the IOC, the Local Organising Committee (Peru), the AISTS, as well as field experts.

In total, 30 abstracts have been selected for the poster presentations in Lima, one of which belongs to Carolina Ahumada Cala, an AISTS MSA 2012 graduate (Master of Sport Administration, based in Lausanne). Ms. Ahumada Cala will be presenting her research paper on the “Differences between the Professional Career of women climbers in Europe and Colombia”.
