13 October 2014 - In the final match of the 2014 FIVB World Women's Volleyball Championship held in Milan, Italy on 12 October 2014, China fell to the United States in four sets, finishing with the silver medal. This was the first time China climbed on the podium of the volleyball worlds in 16 years, and also their third silver (after those in 1990 and 1998) to add to their collection of two golds (from 1982 and 1986).
